Why do I put God and faith first?

I have been a Catholic since my childhood. My Catholic faith is my foundation, a kind of basis for all other areas of development in my life.
What advantages do I have when God and faith are the most important?
1. Heaven is my destiny. I believe that my home is Heaven; I was created by God for enjoying eternal life, so what other thing or matter could worry me?
2. My life has a great value. My value comes from the fact that I am a God’s child.
3. God gives me all I need. Among these God’s gifts are: faith, hope, love, The Catholic Church, sacram ents, Holy Mass, etc. What else could I need when I have these precious gifts?
4. I am a wealthy man regardless of the state of my belongings and assets
My value does not depend on things.

5. My enjoyment comes from the possibility of giving something to other people. There are a lot of things that can be given: my time, money, advice, a good word etc.
6. My personal development in other areas (eg. emotional, relationships, financial etc.) is not as important as my spiritual growth.
To sum up, when I put God as first, all other things will be OK; nothing is more important than God and His will.

"What is it to be a Christian?" (according to Peter Kreeft)

Currently I am reading the book entitled "Your Questions, God's Answers" (by Peter Kreeft). There are 64 questions and the same number of answers given by the author. The answers are very important if we want to understand our Catholic faith. One of the questions is the following: "What is it to be a Christian?" The author writes that "different people will give different answers to that question". Then, he continues to explain that it is Jesus who knows the answer to that question. I will quote the author's words: "What does he say? He (Jesus) says his followers are to become parts of him, incorporated into his body. "I am the vine, and you are the branches" (Jn 15:5) - the same life, the same plant. A Christian is a branch of Christ, a part of Christ. Together, Christians are the Church, the body of Christ (Eph 5:30; Col 1:18)." I am a Catholic. I believe that all I have to know is written in the Bible. God gave us Hi...

What is spiritual development? (my opinion)

Spiritual development is everything that brings me closer to God, that which is related to my prayer life. When do I know that I am growing spiritually? It seems to me that my development (i.e. progress) is expressed in the fact that I am calmer year by year believing that I am heading towards God, towards heaven, towards my final destiny. I don't often reflect on how much I have developed spiritually during my life. Certainly, my attendance at Mass (at least on Sundays and feast days), my participation in the sacraments (e.g., Penance, Holy Communion, Anointing of the Sick), and my daily prayer help me to grow spiritually. I also observe my emotions, my attitude towards people, my falls into one sin or another, I observe if my relationships with people are better, if I as a person become more generous and kind towards my neighbour and the Catholic Church. I am already 49 years old, and age obliges one to become better and better man. I believe that a Christian should develop spiri...

Your questions, God's answers - about a book written by Peter Kreeft.

Yesterday I managed to buy some books - some of them in Italian and some in English. Nearly all of them are connected with faith and God. I'd like to write something about one of these books, namely "Your Questions, God's Answers". The book (author: Peter Kreeft) may be useful for teenagers and their parents. On the back cover of this book we can read: "Kreeft uses Scripture to provide God's profound answers to the most common and important questions young people ask about the deeper meaning of life, their own identity, overcoming failure and temptation, the mystery of God's love, and much more." My copy was published by Ignatius Press. It consists of 121 pages. In my opinion the questions and answers (there are 64 questions) may help teenagers and their parents in their conversations. Some of the questions are: "How can I find out who I really am?", "How will the Bible help me to know myself?", "How can I understand...
