Why don't I work on Sundays? Because I trust my God.

Why don't I work on Sundays? Because I trust my God, because there are God's commandements and God gave them to us and He knows that we will be happy if we trust Him. God's commandements are not some kind of a burden. They are given for our happy life, life with God.

Sunday is a time of celebrating and having a rest. Some time ago I read an official document of Catholic Church, namely Apostolic Letter "Dies Domini". There is some advice how we Catholics should perceive this special day, Sunday. I encourage my readers to read it, the link is here:

On Sunday we should have a rest after six days of working. This is the will of God. And we should trust Our God, although we can choose our own life path. We can do all we want, but it is sometimes wrong. God gives to us only good things and one of these things is His law that we can accept and obey to have a happy and peaceful life.

God knows how important is having a rest and celebrating (not only on Sundays). God knows how happy we can be if we rest and celebrate. It is enough to experience Sunday spent on resting and celebrating to understand and feel why our God wants us to rest and celebrate on this special day.

Sunday is not an usual day, it is a feast day. If we want to, we can celebrate this day, we can participate in a Holy Mass, we can pray longer, we can devote our time to our family. The word "ceremonially" associates - in my view - with something unusual, festal, something different from ordinariness.

We have six days for work. It is enough. A man is not a machine that can operate nonstop. We have to energize ourselves if we want to be productive, creative and happy. I think that some people regret not obeying God's commandement "Remember the Sabbath to keep it holy".

Writing this blog is a pleasure for me. I can share my views, in some way I am celebrating this holy day by writing for myself and others who will read this post. Writing about God and His love is a great pleasure. Blessed Sunday for everyone.

"What is it to be a Christian?" (according to Peter Kreeft)

Currently I am reading the book entitled "Your Questions, God's Answers" (by Peter Kreeft). There are 64 questions and the same number of answers given by the author. The answers are very important if we want to understand our Catholic faith. One of the questions is the following: "What is it to be a Christian?" The author writes that "different people will give different answers to that question". Then, he continues to explain that it is Jesus who knows the answer to that question. I will quote the author's words: "What does he say? He (Jesus) says his followers are to become parts of him, incorporated into his body. "I am the vine, and you are the branches" (Jn 15:5) - the same life, the same plant. A Christian is a branch of Christ, a part of Christ. Together, Christians are the Church, the body of Christ (Eph 5:30; Col 1:18)." I am a Catholic. I believe that all I have to know is written in the Bible. God gave us Hi...

What is spiritual development? (my opinion)

Spiritual development is everything that brings me closer to God, that which is related to my prayer life. When do I know that I am growing spiritually? It seems to me that my development (i.e. progress) is expressed in the fact that I am calmer year by year believing that I am heading towards God, towards heaven, towards my final destiny. I don't often reflect on how much I have developed spiritually during my life. Certainly, my attendance at Mass (at least on Sundays and feast days), my participation in the sacraments (e.g., Penance, Holy Communion, Anointing of the Sick), and my daily prayer help me to grow spiritually. I also observe my emotions, my attitude towards people, my falls into one sin or another, I observe if my relationships with people are better, if I as a person become more generous and kind towards my neighbour and the Catholic Church. I am already 49 years old, and age obliges one to become better and better man. I believe that a Christian should develop spiri...

Your questions, God's answers - about a book written by Peter Kreeft.

Yesterday I managed to buy some books - some of them in Italian and some in English. Nearly all of them are connected with faith and God. I'd like to write something about one of these books, namely "Your Questions, God's Answers". The book (author: Peter Kreeft) may be useful for teenagers and their parents. On the back cover of this book we can read: "Kreeft uses Scripture to provide God's profound answers to the most common and important questions young people ask about the deeper meaning of life, their own identity, overcoming failure and temptation, the mystery of God's love, and much more." My copy was published by Ignatius Press. It consists of 121 pages. In my opinion the questions and answers (there are 64 questions) may help teenagers and their parents in their conversations. Some of the questions are: "How can I find out who I really am?", "How will the Bible help me to know myself?", "How can I understand...
