Everybody is called to be a saint man or woman.

We live here to be saint because our God is calling us to be saint. Becoming a saint woman or man is the task for all our life. Let's start from what Catechism of Catholic Church tells us about holiness.

"2012  We know that in everything God works for good with those who love him… For those whom he fore knew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the first-born among many brethren and those whom he predestined he also called; and those whom he called he also justified; and those whom he justified he also glorified. (Rom 8, 28-30)"

I think that we can say the following (on the grounds of the above extract): everyone can be saint and everyone should be saint - with the help of God, of course. We should aspire to be holy, this holiness is possible. We cannot do anything without God's help and His graces. God wants us to be holy but we are all peccable, so we must ask God for His graces and His help on our way to become a holy woman or man. At the same time, God gave us free will and we can use it wisely and obey God's commandments or we can do what we want without obeying God's law. It is up to us, we have a choice.  But we should remember that God gave us His law to be happy. We can be really happy if we act according to God's law.

Another passage from Catechism of Catholic Church states: "2013   All in any state or walk of life are called to the fullness of Christian life and to the perfection of charity. All are called to holiness: "Be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect." (Mt 5, 48.) In order to reach this perfection the faithful should use the strength dealt out to them by Christ's gift, so that … doing the will of the Father in everything, they may wholeheartedly devote themselves to the glory of God and to the service of their neighbour. Thus the holiness of the People of God will grow in fruitful abundance, as is clearly shown in the history of the Church through the lives of so many saints."

We can be inspired to be holy while reading the above passage. We can pray to God for His graces that will help us to become holier; God has a power to change everything in our lives. God is our strenght on our way to holiness, we can ask Him and He can make our thoughts and acts holier.

I will finish this post with the following passage from Catechism of Catholic Church:
"2014    Spiritual progress tends toward even more intimate union with Christ. This union is called "mystical" because it participates in the mystery of Christ through the sacraments - "the holy mysteries" - and, in him, in the mystery of the Holy Trinity. God calls us all to this intimate union with him, even if the special graces or extraordinary signs of this mystical life are granted only to some for the sake of manifesting the gratuitous gift given to all."

If we ask God for His graces, His graces will make us holier. We cannot be holy without God's help. God's graces are a condition of our sanctification. "There is nothing I cannot do in the One who strengthens me." (Philippians 4, 13) God bless you.

"What is it to be a Christian?" (according to Peter Kreeft)

Currently I am reading the book entitled "Your Questions, God's Answers" (by Peter Kreeft). There are 64 questions and the same number of answers given by the author. The answers are very important if we want to understand our Catholic faith. One of the questions is the following: "What is it to be a Christian?" The author writes that "different people will give different answers to that question". Then, he continues to explain that it is Jesus who knows the answer to that question. I will quote the author's words: "What does he say? He (Jesus) says his followers are to become parts of him, incorporated into his body. "I am the vine, and you are the branches" (Jn 15:5) - the same life, the same plant. A Christian is a branch of Christ, a part of Christ. Together, Christians are the Church, the body of Christ (Eph 5:30; Col 1:18)." I am a Catholic. I believe that all I have to know is written in the Bible. God gave us Hi...

What is spiritual development? (my opinion)

Spiritual development is everything that brings me closer to God, that which is related to my prayer life. When do I know that I am growing spiritually? It seems to me that my development (i.e. progress) is expressed in the fact that I am calmer year by year believing that I am heading towards God, towards heaven, towards my final destiny. I don't often reflect on how much I have developed spiritually during my life. Certainly, my attendance at Mass (at least on Sundays and feast days), my participation in the sacraments (e.g., Penance, Holy Communion, Anointing of the Sick), and my daily prayer help me to grow spiritually. I also observe my emotions, my attitude towards people, my falls into one sin or another, I observe if my relationships with people are better, if I as a person become more generous and kind towards my neighbour and the Catholic Church. I am already 49 years old, and age obliges one to become better and better man. I believe that a Christian should develop spiri...

Your questions, God's answers - about a book written by Peter Kreeft.

Yesterday I managed to buy some books - some of them in Italian and some in English. Nearly all of them are connected with faith and God. I'd like to write something about one of these books, namely "Your Questions, God's Answers". The book (author: Peter Kreeft) may be useful for teenagers and their parents. On the back cover of this book we can read: "Kreeft uses Scripture to provide God's profound answers to the most common and important questions young people ask about the deeper meaning of life, their own identity, overcoming failure and temptation, the mystery of God's love, and much more." My copy was published by Ignatius Press. It consists of 121 pages. In my opinion the questions and answers (there are 64 questions) may help teenagers and their parents in their conversations. Some of the questions are: "How can I find out who I really am?", "How will the Bible help me to know myself?", "How can I understand...
