"Holiness - the eternal longing of the soul"

In May 2022 I read the book "Świętość - odwieczna tęsknota duszy" (in Polish); in English this title would be "Holiness - the eternal longing of the soul" . Each of us is called to holiness, God wants to sanctify us. In May 2022 I read the book  “Świętość – odwieczna tęsknota duszy”  (in Polish); in English this title would be  “Holiness – the eternal longing of the soul” . Each of us is called to holiness, God wants to sanctify us. Here is  a quote  from the book: “ John Paul II tried to show that the pursuit of personal holiness is revealed in the humanity of every human being , and thus can be realized by anyone at any time: during prayer, work, study, creative activity, meeting other people, practicing sports, discovering the beauty of nature, while exercising priestly, episcopal or papal ministry.” (the translation from Polish) So in all conditions and for each of us, we can strive for holiness because God has the power to transform and shape us, we are to...

Why don't people believe in God? (my personal opinion)

Today I will try to answer this question. I am a Catholic and have been a believer and practitioner of my faith for as long as I can remember.  I owe my faith to my parents, they were my role model. I have never had a crisis of faith, I consider it as a gift from God. Why don't people believe in God? I don't know. For me, the issue is obvious for several reasons. Personally, I think that one of the most obvious evidences for the existence of God is the existence of man and nature. In my opinion, SOMEONE had to give a beginning to the universe, nature and man. Nothing happens by itself.  As the Holy Scriptures says "From the beauty of the creatures one recognizes the Creator." (this is not a literal quotation) I recognize God from the beauty of creatures, but I also believe in God in the Trinity (based on the revelation of God to the people of Israel, based on the belief in the historicity of Jesus Christ; besides, there are also Eucharistic miracles, some people exp...

What is spiritual development? (my opinion)

Spiritual development is everything that brings me closer to God, that which is related to my prayer life. When do I know that I am growing spiritually? It seems to me that my development (i.e. progress) is expressed in the fact that I am calmer year by year believing that I am heading towards God, towards heaven, towards my final destiny. I don't often reflect on how much I have developed spiritually during my life. Certainly, my attendance at Mass (at least on Sundays and feast days), my participation in the sacraments (e.g., Penance, Holy Communion, Anointing of the Sick), and my daily prayer help me to grow spiritually. I also observe my emotions, my attitude towards people, my falls into one sin or another, I observe if my relationships with people are better, if I as a person become more generous and kind towards my neighbour and the Catholic Church. I am already 49 years old, and age obliges one to become better and better man. I believe that a Christian should develop spiri...

Jesus Christ is risen from the dead! There is no greater joy for believers in God!

Tomorrow (April 17, 2022)   we celebrate Easter   in the Catholic Church , it is the commemoration of   the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ ,   who died on the tree of the cross ,   suffered the passion to take away the sins of men and give us the eternal reward in heaven.   I strongly believe in this idea. Why am I writing religious content on this personal development blog?  The reason is simple:  for a believer nothing is more important than spiritual development,  because what will come to us from the development of human relationships, from the development in any other field (finances, well-being, emotions, etc)  if we lack faith in the One who rules the whole world   (I mean, Our LOVING God).  You, dear reader, here on earth  you live only once, after earthly death awaits you …? Exactly what awaits you?  What is your idea of what will happen to you after earthly death? According to the Catholic fait...

The Holy Mass: source of grace, source of strength...

The Holy Mass can become a source of grace, a source of strength, it can give what people cannot give. For me, the Holy Mass is an encounter with the living God, an encounter with Him, with Jesus Christ in His Word, in His Body (while receiving Holy Communion). The Mass is something that cannot be described. God gives the grace to know what the Mass is, but we won't fully realise how great the miracles are during each Mass. The Holy Mass will always remain some kind of mystery, a mystery to be discovered. I thank God for giving me an understanding of what happens at every Holy Mass, an understanding that I can experience at this stage of my life. I firmly believe that Jesus is truly present in Holy Communion, I thank God for the grace to believe in this miracle that God allows me to experience. The Holy Mass gives power, it gives graces, but first we must trust God and let Him lead us, lead us through our experience of the Holy Mass. Dare to believe. ...

The Holy Mass: a source of graces.

The Holy Mass is a source of many graces. I will present today some points on this subject, taken from the magazine "The Angels", vol. 9, issue 2 (2018). On page 18 of this magazine you can read: "At the hour of death the Masses you have heard will be your greatest consolation." "Every Mass will go with you to Judgement and plead for pardon." "The power of Satan over you is diminished." "You afford the souls in purgatory the greatest possible relief." "You shorten your purgatory by every Mass." "You kneel amidst a multitude of holy angels, who are present at the adorable sacrifice, with reverential awe." These are not all the points on the list, I have only quoted some of them. At the bottom of page 18 it states: "Imprimature Michael, Abp. Syd. Sydney, 19th March 1915." Have a great day! daretolive72

Eucharist: a source of strength.

We believe that Jesus himself is present in the consecrated host and wine. Believing this is a grace. For God, all things are possible.  There is power in the Eucharist, power that comes from God himself, this power gives us what we need to be happy people, people who live every day with love. Here on Earth we are only for a moment (compared to eternity), we can feed ourselves with the Eucharist, which strengthens us on our way, strengthens us to be better people. Without God's help we cannot do anything good, but with God and supported by His Body we become holier, because God Himself sanctifies us.  All the good that comes from God we have to give to other people, try to speak well, not to hurt ourselves and others, to improve ourselves year by year, not to become bitter old people. In old age we can also experience the fullest spiritual development, and the Eucharist helps in this development, it is an important element, an essential element.  Because what is good in u...
